A practical buying guide to the Banpresto Matikanetannhauser figure: size, price, authenticity, and when this Uma Musume prize figure is the right pick.
Quick answer
If you want an authentic Banpresto Uma Musume figure of Matikanetannhauser at a mid-range price, this 17 cm figure is a sensible pick. Buy it when you value a compact, display-ready character piece over large-scale detail, and confirm the seller ships from Japan with proper packaging.
What the 17 cm size means for your display
At 6.63 inches (17 cm), this Matikanetannhauser figure sits in the standard Banpresto prize-figure range. That makes it easy to place on a bookshelf, desk, or crowded detolf shelf without rearranging your whole collection. It also means fine details are scaled down: expect clean sculpting and paint for the price, not the presence of a large-scale statue.
If you already own taller Uma Musume figures, check the height difference before buying. A 17 cm figure can look small next to 25 cm scale figures, so group it with other prize figures for a balanced shelf.
Price versus catalog comparison: when the deal makes sense
The catalog price is USD 32.50, compared with a catalog comparison price of USD 50.00. That gap is meaningful for a prize figure, but it is not a reason to skip the basics. Compare the total delivered cost, including shipping from Japan, against other listings for the same character.
A lower price can reflect a re-release, a prize figure with no box, or a seller clearing stock. None of those are automatically bad, but each changes what you should expect. Ask whether the box is included if that matters to you, because the catalog does not state the packaging condition.
Authenticity checks before you commit
The listing states the figure is 100% authentic and dispatched directly from Osaka, Japan. That is a useful starting point, but verify the seller's return policy and ask for photos of the actual item if you are buying from a marketplace listing. Prize figures are commonly counterfeited, and paint quality is often the first giveaway.
Look for clean seam lines, even paint on small areas like shoes and hair tips, and a base that sits flat. If the seller cannot provide real photos or clear shipping details, treat that as a warning sign regardless of the price.
Where this figure fits in an Uma Musume collection
Matikanetannhauser is a character-specific pick, so this figure appeals most to fans who already follow her in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby. If you are building a broad Uma Musume shelf, this is a good supporting piece rather than a centerpiece. Collectors who want one figure per character will find it fills a specific gap.
The catalog does not list a release year or series number, so do not assume this is a first-run or limited edition. Treat it as a standard Banpresto prize figure and buy it for the character, not for rarity.
Decision rules for buying this Matikanetannhauser figure
- Buy it if you want a compact character figure: Choose this figure when a 17 cm Banpresto prize figure fits your shelf and you specifically want Matikanetannhauser. It is display-ready and does not need a large dedicated space. Measure your shelf height and compare with 17 cm before ordering.
- Skip it if you expect scale-figure detail: If you want intricate sculpting, alternate parts, or a large statement piece, save for a scale figure instead. This is a prize figure, and its detail level matches that category.
- Confirm the seller's packaging and box condition: The catalog does not state whether the original box is included. Ask before buying if you keep boxes, and confirm the figure will be shipped with protection for the hair and base. A seller who answers packaging questions clearly is a lower-risk choice.
- Check total cost, not just the listed price: Add shipping from Japan and any import fees to the USD 32.50 price. Compare that total with other listings for the same figure before deciding the discount is real.
