Learn what to check before buying the S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku Genkidamatsuri Edition, including authenticity, pricing, and condition.
Quick Answer
If you want a rare, authentic Dragon Ball figure with premium articulation, the S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan Goku Genkidamatsuri Edition is worth it—provided you verify authenticity and condition before paying collector prices.
Why the Genkidamatsuri Edition Stands Out
The Genkidamatsuri Edition is a special release tied to the Dragon Ball festival, making it rarer than standard S.H.Figuarts releases. It features Super Saiyan Goku in a dynamic pose that captures the energy of the Genkidama (Spirit Bomb) scene.
Because it's a limited edition, it often carries a higher price tag than regular S.H.Figuarts figures. The catalog price is USD 265.23, with a comparison price of USD 421.00, so you'll likely pay a premium for the rarity.
If you're a collector who values exclusivity and screen-accurate detail, this edition offers something standard releases don't.
What to Check Before Buying
Authenticity is the biggest concern with rare figures. Always buy from a trusted retailer that guarantees 100% authentic Japanese products. The figure should come with official Bandai Spirits branding and packaging.
Condition matters: check for any damage to the box or figure, especially if you're buying online. A well-packaged shipment reduces the risk of damage in transit.
Price transparency is also key. Compare the listed price to the catalog comparison price to understand the discount or premium you're getting.
Decision Rules for Buying
- Authenticity Check: Always buy from a store that explicitly guarantees 100% authentic Japanese figures. Look for official Bandai Spirits branding on the box and figure. If the price seems too good to be true, verify the seller's authenticity promise before purchasing.
- Condition Assessment: Inspect photos or descriptions for box damage, paint flaws, or missing accessories. Since this is a collector's item, even minor damage can reduce value. Ask the seller for extra photos if you're unsure about the condition.
- Price Comparison: Compare the listed price to the catalog comparison price (USD 421.00). The current price of USD 265.23 is a significant discount, but check other listings to ensure you're getting a fair deal. Use the comparison price as a benchmark, not a guarantee of value.
